The yachts remain recognisable, but I no longer felt compelled to describe them through precision. Instead, I allowed their forms to emerge through loose marks, layered colour and suggestion. Up close, the painting reveals its imperfections, the exposed layers, restless strokes and unfinished edges, yet from a distance, they begin to resolve into something surprisingly coherent. I loved that tension: allowing the painting to remain visibly made, rather than forcing it into perfection. It became less about reproducing what I saw and more about discovering how little I needed to say for the image to still be felt.
